For the Biennial at St. Etienne, Smart Design was asked to contribute to the "Demain c'est aujourd'hui" (Today is Tomorrow) exhibition curated by Claire Foyelle. Because of our deep understanding of people's behavior and emotions in the kitchen, we framed our exploration around food.
Food provides emotional value in addition to nutritional value. We imagined a future where people would make food with ingredients that meet their emotional needs. My colleague Alistair Bramley and I produced a concept that enables people to prepare a food staple common to many cultures, butter, to help support an everyday emotional journey.
