From December 2010 through March 2011, I was an artist in residence at the MAD Open Studio. During my residency, I used a "sketching in hardware" approach to explore the creation of interactive physical objects for sound and musical structures.
Tilt lamp - changing object orientation to change a value (in this case, light intensity) - Early sketches
Squeeze vessel - using hand grip as interaction for manipulating pitch
Rhythm box - mapping a physical arrangement of blocks to a simple rhythm. Early sketches
Matrix mask - a playful object that maps voice to light, yelling into it causes your volume to correspond to an LED matrix animation
Melody man - a robot toy that expresses itself through light and music
