No one can deny that toys can hold a special place in people's hearts. Electronic toys are even more alluring when they come to life through light, sound an motion, but when they require batteries they're both annoying to use and wasteful. Play is, by its very nature, an activity that includes physical motion, so why not harness that motion to power the plaything itself?

MelodyMan is a friendly, hand-held robot character and the world’s first electronically-activated designer toy. Turn the crank in his belly and he comes to life, like a modern day version of a the classic hand-crank powered music box. Human power lights up his face, showing an animated array of lights and playing songs custom composed by electronic musicians.

This project is currently in the process of production.
