Most recipe apps are designed for reading, not cooking. Based on old fashioned print cookbooks, the type is one size, the ingredients are separate from the instructions, and it requires a good deal of back and forth navigation to follow. They're designed for the content viewing experience, not the cooking experience.
At the Smart Interaction Lab, we decided to create our own app focused on the cooking experience. The result is based on a redesign of the recipe itself. Large swipe gestures mean that the app can be navigated with spice-covered fingers, palms or even elbows. Ingredients are chunked by the main action taking place, and helpful videos are embedded within the content.
