xBlocks are a Lego-style construction toy with embedded electronics that enable one-to-one representations in digital content. Targeted towards children, the blocks interface with digital content so that an image of them can appear on the screen in real time within the context of a streamed video broadcast or game. They capture the best aspects of physical play while harnessing the benefits of software content such as stories and social interaction.

xBlocks is an ongoing project in the xLab at the University of Pennsylvania. In my role of team leader I collaborate with talented programmers, game developers, and electronics and embedded systems engineers.
